Once again the history of the Santa Clara convent inspires and creates a unique concept that takes you to live a different, simple, refined and tasteful moment through its new BOTIKA BAR space, a place to be connected to original experiences.
The third floor terrace, an outdoor space in a safe and natural environment with the beautiful setting of the Caribbean Sea, is the place chosen for BOTIKA BAR, where glamour blends with fun, recreating the fascinating world of apothecaries or old pharmacies, where medicines were experimented and prepared in an artisanal way, combining plants and minerals to discover masterful formulas with healing properties.
This same concept arrives at BOTIKA BAR which, with its innovative clarification technique, has created a menu full of surprising cocktails and drinks with and without alcohol, created with mixtures of liquors, syrups and spices for visitors to live a memorable experience in a relaxed atmosphere with very affordable prices and framed within the LIVE THE FRENCH WAY style.
According to Nicolas Pesty, Manager of the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Hotel “we wanted to continue with our philosophy of creating experiences and moments inspired by the magical stories of our convent and BOTIKA BAR is the perfect example that shows how we have an innovative proposal with the clarification technique to be used for the first time in the city“.
“Likewise, the hotel has implemented strict biosafety measures today, which guarantee the tranquility and comfort of our guests. Our cleaning and disinfection levels are very high, thus ensuring the sanitization of all our spaces. In addition, we strictly comply with the social distancing protocols required not only by local governments but also by the Accor Hotel chain, therefore, fully complying the guidelines of the renowned auditing firm Bureau Veritas“, as confirmed by Pesty.
From its very conception, BOTIKA BAR has included every detail of an old apothecary’s shop. According to Juan Pablo Estrada, Banquet Manager of the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara and who leads the project; “we have combined different elements ranging from the decoration and the atmosphere, making every corner of the bar tell a story and inviting our visitors to a world full of discoveries involving the mystique of chemistry, where every drink and cocktail is a reinterpretation of the apothecaries”.
“This new space is designed to meet with friends who want to enjoy a special time, surrounded by the natural environment of the Caribbean Sea, with a DJ who will entertain the nights from Thursday to Sunday with a selection of international music”, as mentioned by Juan Pablo Estrada.
THE AUTHENTICITY OF BOTKA BAR
The plastic artist Pilar Meira, a Chilean living in Colombia, was sought to give it that touch of authenticity and who managed to capture the essence of the project. The bar facilities include antique-finished wooden furniture, shelves and accessories such as aged amber glass jars, laboratory glassware, enameled cups and mugs, as well as labels and a liquor menu with a unique design that honors antique pharmacies.
This is complemented by uniforms inspired by ancient medieval apothecary’s shirts in raw tones (white and beige) with subtle touches of red and a metal clasp in the shape of a distinctive cross of that time.
And the entrance to the Bar couldn’t be more original than the door on Calle del Torno, which will be made available for the first time to enter the BOTIKA BAR. This door was used by the nuns of the convent to receive and deliver different things to the outside. There, the bar’s luminous advertisement will welcome the visitors.
THE CLARIFICATION: FOR THE FIRST TIME IN CARTAGENA
The new BOTIKA BAR will feature the clarification technique among its novelties, a simple chemical process in which impurities are eliminated from the liquids through a special filtration system, enhancing the flavors of the liquors and natural ingredients, thus generating endless new sensations for the palate.
POTIONS, CONCOCTIONS AND MORE…
What stands out most within the concept of the new BOTIKA BAR is the creativity of its liquor menu, where an invitation is made to discover a whole world of flavors inspired by the books of the apothecaries. Each section surprises with its formulas and recipes with the indications and contraindications in the best style of the apothecaries.
Here you will find the POTION section that includes cocktails such as Apothecary’s Sour or Sparkling Cuban Mojito, as well as others such as the Fivefold Orgasm with vodka, coffee liqueur, amaretto, Carolans plus a secret potion; Passion Gallery with gin, lemon juice extract, passion fruit syrup, ginger, passion fruit pulp plus aphrodisiac leaves; or the Sensual Art with tequila, orange syrup and orange blossom syrup, coconut cream plus an apothecary’s potion. The alcohol-free potions combine Pineapple and Mint, Orange and Basil or coconut water and nutmeg, among others.
Among the ELIXIRS are those of eternal youth, life, invigorating, energizing or the electrifying one that has aguardiente, tabasco pepper and accents of rosemary leaves. In the CONCOCTIONS section, there is the Trilogy, a mixture of white distillates (Vodka, Gin and white rum) with cinnamon extract and bitter drops; or the Magic Wheel with golden rum, basil leaves, mint syrup and chili pepper drops.
The menu ends with the CATALYSTS, which includes the selection of wines, sparkling wines, champagnes and other liquors such as national and imported beer.
In this way, the BOTIKA BAR is the recommended place to spend a fun time, sharing with friends, good music and a unique liquor proposal at affordable prices and surrounded by the magic of the Caribbean Sea.
